  • 75 g dark vegan chocolate (chopped)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups plant-based milk
  • 1 cup vegan butter (room temperature)
  • 80 g dark vegan chocolate (for ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. Melt dark chocolate in hot coffee; let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix plant-based milk, oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Stir in melted chocolate.
  5. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Divide batter between pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool layers before frosting with chocolate buttercream made from whipped vegan butter and cocoa powder.
  8. Drizzle ganache over the frosted cake and decorate with skulls made from melted dark chocolate.
