- 1 1/2 cups hot coffee
- 75 g dark vegan chocolate (chopped)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 2/3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups plant-based milk
- 1 cup vegan butter (room temperature)
- 80 g dark vegan chocolate (for ganache)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round baking pans.
- Melt dark chocolate in hot coffee; let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix plant-based milk, oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Stir in melted chocolate.
- Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool layers before frosting with chocolate buttercream made from whipped vegan butter and cocoa powder.
- Drizzle ganache over the frosted cake and decorate with skulls made from melted dark chocolate.
