- 2 cans (29 oz) peaches in heavy syrup
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 5 tbsp melted unsalted butter (plus more for drizzling)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- a pinch of nutmeg
- Lemon juice
- Vanilla extract
- Salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Pour the first can of peaches into a 9×13 inch baking pan. Drain the second can and add only the peaches.
- Mix in melted butter, lemon juice, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt with the peaches.
- In another bowl, combine flour, sugar for topping, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Evenly sprinkle the flour mixture over the peach filling.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top.
- Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes; then reduce temperature to 375°F and bake for an additional hour until golden brown.
