Ingredients
- 5–6 firm apples (such as Golden Delicious or Braeburn)
- 100 g butter
- 120 g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 roll of puff pastry
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Peel, core, and quarter the apples.
- In an ovenproof pan, melt butter and sugar over medium heat until golden caramel forms.
- Arrange apple quarters in the caramel, rounded side down, and cook for 10–15 minutes until slightly tender.
- Roll out the puff pastry and lay it over the apples, tucking the edges inside the pan.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
