- 500g beef chuck, cut into chunks
- 200g fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 500ml beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Sear beef chunks until browned on all sides, then remove from the pot.
- In the same pot, cook onions and garlic until translucent. Stir in flour and cook for one additional minute.
- Add the seared beef back into the pot along with sliced mushrooms. Pour in beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to simmer.
- Add fresh herbs and cover the pot; simmer for about 1.5 hours until beef is tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste; cook uncovered for the last 30 minutes if a thicker sauce is desired.
