- 2 lbs (900 grams) sweet apples (Gala, Fuji, etc.)
- 10 cups water
- 2 Tbsp (25 grams) brown sugar
- 4 inches (55 grams) fresh ginger
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 tsp black peppercorns
Instructions
- Chop apples: Wash and quarter the apples without peeling.
- Instant Pot Method: Combine chopped apples, ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, peppercorns, and water in the Instant Pot. Lock the lid and cook on high pressure for 18 minutes. Manually release steam and let cool briefly.
- Stovetop Method: In a stock pot, combine ingredients as above and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Steep off heat for an additional 10 minutes.
- Strain: Use a fine mesh sieve to strain the tea into a pitcher or jar.
- Cool: Let the tea reach room temperature before sealing it in an airtight container.
