- 2 lbs beef chuck or stew meat
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 inch fresh ginger
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish
- Cooked basmati rice, for serving
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by mixing flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a bowl. Gradually add warm water until you form a soft dough. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and let it rise for an hour.
- In a large pot over medium heat, heat vegetable oil and sauté chopped onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; cook until fragrant.
- Stir in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes with beef broth; bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add spices (curry powder, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder) and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add cubed beef to the pot and cover; simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until tender.
- Punch down the risen naan dough and divide into four pieces; roll each into oval shapes.
- Cook naan on a hot skillet until golden brown on both sides; brush with minced garlic before serving.
- Serve hot garnished with fresh cilantro alongside basmati rice.
